Avatars are handy -- allowing you to quickly recognize a person based on their image.  For Phase 1 of Art of the Mix Version 2, I decided to use http://gravatar.com for management of avatars on the site.  It is pretty easy to go to their site and register and, if your email is the same as your email on AOTM, your avatar will show up.

Will that work for people?  Is there another service people would rather use?

Another idea I have is pulling your gravatar from either twitter or youtube or facebook -- what do folks think of that?

After years of status quo, Art of the Mix is getting some development and attention. Phase 1 is complete.  Included in Phase 1 are the following:

• Security Fixes: All vulnerabilities have been patched with the new codebase
• Performance improvements
• Member Blog: Any member can contribute to the blog
• New Discussion Forums: with all your favorite features!

The UI remains basically the same ... for now. Phase 2 will be a UI redesign.

You will probably have to log in again.
