Comment:
Bruce's encores can last as long as other artists' entire shows, and we've captured the pulse-pounding highlights of those marathon sets right here. The E-Street Band tears into "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)" with the manic energy of a sugared-up six-year-old - and just when you think it's over, the tune re-ignites like a trick birthday candle. On "Light of Day," Springsteen breaks out his best James Brown impression, testifyin' while the band hammers a chord at his every pause until he asks, "Is there anybody alive out there?" and the crowd goes nuts. And where better than Dublin to record "American Land," stuffed like an emigrant's duffel bag with the streets-of-gold imagery that turned Ellis Island into the world's most popular destination? Set to a Pogues-like Irish jig, the tune's cheery lilt conceals a serious message for a country whose attitude towards immigration has taken a radical turn toward intolerance.
